Day One Sat Nam Festival 2013

There is a way to know if you're on the right path and it comes from a confirmation you feel inside.  When you know - you know.  As soon as I listened to Snatam Kaur's music and found the Sat Nam Festival, I knew I had to be present in whatever capacity I could manage.  Happily, I was accepted as a vendor in their healing group.  The adventure began last night.

After my husband Tetris'd the back of my jeep, I took off for California.  The festival is in Joshua Tree National Park, but I found a great deal on the Aqua Soleil Hotel and Mineral Spring Spa, in Palm Springs.

Leaving home around 11pm, with gratitude in my heart and adventure tickling my soul, I drove for hours.

Go. Go. Go.
Thank goodness I called the mechanic for the tune-up on Nayeli (my 1998 Jeep).  She was working hard and we made great time, following the speed limit, of course.

Three random camels welcomed me to my first leg-stretch stop in Quartzsite. Half-way there.

The next leg-stretch stop provided these antique beauties for our photographic pleasure. (170 miles into the trip)

History is awesome.  Check out these other hip cats.

3:33 am
I arrived to the place where the pools are filled with mineral water.  Delightfully, I found myself at a beautiful room at the Aqua Soleil Hotel and Mineral Spring Spa.  They have done a lovely job with renovating the Melrose Place style architecture to give it the blend of retro-modern-bohemia - one of my favorite blends.

View from the balcony of the mineral water soaking options. 24 HOURS yes. please.

Fancy panorama that makes the room look WAY HUGE!
4:20am
The mineral water was a welcome salve to my sore body.  Driving that distance in short time was only accomplished by the magic of singing along to random music and sheer will power to get in the healing waters... and an ice pack and some aromatherapeutic gel.  The relaxation in the indoor hot tub (far right) was the best... BEST reward for a long drive.

Of course, the pool was my spot to be in the afternoon until it was set up time at SatNamFest.
3:33pm
I arrived at Joshua Tree Retreat Center
59700 Twentynine Palms Highway
Joshua Tree, CA 92252

After a simple registration process and meet-n-greet with familiar email contacts, I headed to my vendor-healer space.

Then, I set up my tent and took a walk to familiarize myself with how to get from Point A to Point B.

I watched a little ground squirrel rush into this hole. Long tail. So cute.

:::Retro Cabin::: This place has been around for awhile and they've done a great job to preserve the land and the erected structures, like this one.
